Ezekiel 36:26, 27:
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
“And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my judgments, and do them.”
I get what these verses are saying, and am super thankful for this promise. However, I disliked the details.
Stone is hard and durable; flesh is soft and easily hurt.
Earlier this spring I was picking rocks out of a field, throwing the rocks into a backhoe bucket. As one of the rocks broke cleanly into two pieces, Ezekiel 36 came to mind in a new way:
Stone can’t heal; flesh can.
