The first virus ever. We may rightly call it a Corona virus, because it was all about a crown. This deadly virus was created because someone wanted a crown, but he didn’t care about forming the character of a good king.
“How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How are you cut down to the ground, which did weakened the nations! For you said in your heart, ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds: I will be like the Most High.’” – Isaiah 14:12-14
Lucifer already had a position of honour. He was “the anointed covering cherub” according to Ezekiel 28:14. But he wanted more: he wanted the honour and power that God had. He wanted to be above his Creator.
Fast forwarding the story, we find that our first parents were infected with COVID-0 in the same way. Eve ate from the tree that God had put in the garden as a test of character because she was flattered with the prospect of being like a god (Genesis 3:5).
Every human since Adam and Eve has been infected with this disease. This disease flatters us with prospects of greatness and happiness, then makes us degrade ourselves and cause pain. This disease always ends in death. Eternal death. I have it. So do you.
There is a treatment for COVID-0. This treatment is guaranteed to succeed if we follow the Doctor’s orders. It cost a lot to produce the medicine, but we can have it as a free gift.
Jesus is our Creator. He’s the One who created Lucifer (Colossians 1:16). He was the Prince of the Universe, and fully deserved His position.
Jesus “being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” – Philippians 2:5-8
Jesus took off His crown, and came to live in our contagiously infected world as one of us. Every day of His life here was a battle against the disease. He won the battle every day by submitting to His Father’s plans, and living for others instead of Himself. He gave His blood so that the antidote for COVID-0 could be produced.
“He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement for our peace was upon Him: and with His wounds we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5
Jesus proved that He has the character of a great ruler. He gave up His absolute power to save us who are absolutely corrupt.
