Many scientists who are smarter than I am say that I have apes in the roots of my family tree. (Maybe I should quit giving them so much evidence…)
Experts in many lines of study say that the Bible has no credibility.
That said, there are also many scientists and scholars who are smarter than me who have convincing evidence to validate the Bible.
Can a simpleton like me know whether or not the Bible is true? Can you know for yourself?
First, God asks us to test Him. His promise in Jeremiah 29:13 is repeated many times in the New Testament. For instance, Matthew 7:7,8 says “Seek and you shall find… he who seeks finds.”
Also, you can examine science trends. For instance, it is now acknowledged that the highest mountains on earth were once under water. Also, the history of paleontology records many missing links that were later found to not be missing links at all. The classic example of this is the Piltdown Man.
About science: I find creation science amazing. Illustra Media has great videos that showcase evidence for Intelligent Design. Also, Amazing Discoveries has some rather scholarly Creation lectures.
Another trend you can examine is in archaeology. Historians and archaeologists used to criticize the Bible for mentioning the Hittites, for whom there was no extra-biblical evidence. Now a lot of evidence has been dug up that shows that the Hittites were indeed a very powerful nation. Also of interest is evidence for the Exodus.
Bible prophecy gives a lot of evidence for the Bible being divinely inspired. Daniel 2 is a classic example of Bible prophecy. The scores of prophecies that foretold what Jesus would do are especially amazing.
There’s another type of evidence for the Bible: experience. I have friends who have amazing stories of how God has led, and helped and provided for them. What I’ve seen is that those who end up with the most experiences like this usually are the ones who dedicate their lives to serving God, such as missionaries. Gayle is one such friend. You can have this evidence for yourself. My experience is that God’s plans for me have been more difficult than I wanted, but also much more ennobling. I’m really thankful for how He has led me.
Last of all, I pray that you will see evidence for who God is from the lessons He has put in nature, and how these lessons harmonize with Bible truths. That’s what this site is about.
